Winner of Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2019, People & Space, this is a self portrait of photographer & dog.
Standing here atop a small hill by Hadrian’s Wall this is a single 10 second exposure of my dog Floyd & myself. To the left, the planet, Mars and to the right the galactic core of our Milky Way galaxy where 26,000 light years away lies a supermassive black hole, named Sagittarius A*, the centre of our galaxy.
A photograph that changed my life and one I love
